《刺客信条：大明风云》系列原定为由燕垒生撰写的小说三部曲。第一部小说《大明风云》于2019年3月31日于中国发行，之后分别于2020年和2021年被相继翻译成法语和英语（英文版由法语版翻译）。第二部小说《大漠风云》于2021年10月19日在中国发行，英文版计划于2022年10月4日发行。第三部小说尚未公布，具体情况请以育碧中国对外发布消息为准。
该系列以中国刺客少芸为主角，以连续多部作品讲述独立于游戏本篇的故事。第一部小说改编自衍生游戏《刺客信条编年史：中国》，存在大量与游戏相异的设定与情节。续作《大漠风云》则讲述了关于少芸的纯原创故事。

尽管最初并未宣布为三部曲，但在2021年2月21日，在营销首部小说英译本时，Aconyte Books和育碧的新闻稿透露，《大明风云》是以少芸为主角的非正史小说三部曲中的第一部。英文版本是由尼基·科佩尔曼翻译。[1]在2021年4月21日，刺客信条内容负责人艾马·阿扎齐亚（Aymar Azaïzia）再次确认，《大明风云》不是正史。[2]
