醒来的时候，那两个拖着他穿过战场前往安全处的雇佣兵向埃齐奥打了招呼。埃齐奥暴躁地命令两个雇佣兵放开他，坚称自己走得动。
在他走向安全处时，博吉亚士兵追了上来，想要解决埃齐奥。自知无力独自对付这些士兵的埃齐奥叫来了其他的雇佣兵协助他一同作战。最后，埃齐奥和雇佣兵们杀出了一条血路，穿过蒙特里久尼回到了奥迪托雷别墅。
在他穿过城里的废墟时，埃齐奥看到克劳迪娅与另一群雇佣兵正被人数更多的博吉亚士兵围攻。埃齐奥和自己身边的雇佣兵连忙上前协助，顺利地救下了他们。他们匆匆忙忙地来到了圣堂，博吉亚士兵也紧随其后。
蒙特里久尼一名正打算关上圣堂大门的盗贼告诉埃齐奥，他们还以为埃齐奥已经战死了。在埃齐奥关闭书架通道的密门时，这个盗贼离开了密道，前去协助作战。在此之后，埃齐奥锁上了密道的暗门，顺着台阶走了下去，和克劳迪娅、玛丽亚还有镇上的百姓会合。
埃齐奥、玛丽亚与克劳迪娅逃离蒙特里久尼之后
在圣堂地下的地道里，埃齐奥带着逃离城镇的队伍穿过了从圣堂阿泰尔雕像背后修建出去的密道。这条密道很长，也充满风险，但一路通往蒙特里久尼城北。
在漫长的逃离路途里，一路穿过复杂的地下建筑，解决追赶上来的卫兵之后，埃齐奥和其他的百姓顺利地逃离了蒙特里久尼。
在那之后，博吉亚家族认为埃齐奥已死，开始召回他们的入侵军队。

- 玛格丽塔：“是的，或者说时罗马在博吉亚家族当权之后的遗迹。”

埃齐奥力尽倒下
在围城战结束之后，刺客方面失去了伊甸苹果。苹果落入了切萨雷及其军队之手。逃离蒙特里久尼之后，埃齐奥要了一匹马，告诉克劳迪娅带着母亲回佛罗伦萨。克劳迪娅问埃齐奥是要去哪里，埃齐奥回答说他将前去罗马。
在百姓逃离蒙特里久尼时，玛丽亚与她的儿子道了别，要求他消灭圣殿骑士，但要记住刺客到底是为谁而战。埃齐奥随后骑马赶往罗马，与家人分别。
在乡间行进时，埃齐奥因身上的伤而变得越来越虚弱，最后从马上跌落，晕倒在了路上。一段时间之后，埃齐奥醒来，神志不清，身上缠着绷带。一个和善的女人出现在他的眼里，向他打了招呼。这名女子缝好了埃齐奥的伤口，照顾了埃齐奥，让他恢复了基本健康的状态。
埃齐奥在罗马休养生息
她告诉埃齐奥，有个男人把他带来了罗马，随后为他留下了新的装备与刺客长袍。在埃齐奥穿戴整齐，准备离开时，女子告诉他，到奥古斯都陵墓去与尼可罗·马基雅维利见面。
离开女子的住处后，埃齐奥很快就发现自己已身在罗马。从此，罗马的解放事业与刺客兄弟会的再度复兴拉开了序幕。
