Yuki (died 2023) was the personal bodyguard of Shimazu Sei and a former employee of Abstergo Industries.
In 2023, Yuki joined Sei in betraying Abstergo to rescue Animus test subject Noa Kim after the company ordered his termination upon the retrieval of a crescent amulet, a Piece of Eden. With the help of the Assassin Nathan Zhang, the trio fled to a Zhawang Corporation safehouse in Singapore, where Yuki helped Sei explore her ancestor Shimazu Saito's memories to find another Piece of Eden that could cure Noa of the amulet's effects.
After successfully locating an artifact in the Shwedagon Pagoda, the group traveled to Yangon, where Sei and Noa retrieved the Piece of Eden while Yuki helped Nathan and his men fend off an assault from Abstergo's Sigma Team. With the Abstergo agents continuing to relentlessly pursue them, the group infiltrated Yangon's harbor to flee the city, and Yuki sacrificed herself to buy the others time to escape.
Biography[]
Posing as a tour guide[]
Yuki showing Noa around Macau
By 2023, Yuki was serving under Sei aboard the Exitus research vessel in Macau, China. That year, Abstergo identified the Korean-American student Noa Kim as a descendant of Edward Kenway through the WhyYou genealogy site, and lured him to Macau on the pretense of a vacation prize trip. Yuki was tasked to play the role of a tour guide and greeted Noa at the airport before taking him to visit various landmarks around the city.[1]
After ending their tour, Yuki brought Noa to a park and told him to go for a walk while they waited for a car to come pick them up. With Noa alone, Yuki contacted Mitsuko Nakamura, who dispatched two Abstergo agents to kidnap Noa and bring him back to the Exitus. There, Noa was forced to relive Edward's genetic memories in the Animus under Sei's supervision, to help the Templars track down a Piece of Eden.[1]
Ambushed by Doom Eagle[]
Sometime later, Yuki joined Sei and Noa on an expedition to Cebu in the Philippines, where they sought to retrace Edward's footsteps. As Noa stood in front of a statue of Lapu-Lapu, Yuki appeared alongside Sei behind him, leading Noa to recognize her as the "tour guide" from Macau. Yuki sarcastically greeted him, revealing her affiliations with Abstergo and stating that she would be Noa's tour guide once again in Cebu.[2]
While traveling around Cebu looking for leads, the Abstergo convoy containing Yuki, Sei, and Noa was ambushed by members of the Doom Eagle criminal organization, who sought to rescue Noa.[2] The car transporting the trio was able to escape through an alley, but several Doom Eagle thugs gave chase on motorcycles.[3]
Yuki providing cover fire for Noa and Sei to escape
Yuki pulled out her concealed assault rifle from her briefcase and managed to gun down one of the pursuing thugs, but was soon overwhelmed. When she contacted the Abstergo headquarters to request backup, she was told to head to a nearby shopping mall, where both the local police and Sigma Team would arrive shortly.[3]
At the mall, the Abstergo car was hit by a truck, sending it flying into a fountain. Yuki was severly injured in the crash, but continued to exchange fire with the Doom Eagle thugs that had cornered the group. After Noa helped Sei out of the wrecked car, she was shocked to see Yuki's injuries, but the latter assured her that she would be fine and told Sei and Noa to head into the mall. She also gave Noa her bracer, which contained a retractable stun baton, and ordered him to keep Sei safe before resuming her gunfight with the thugs.[3]
Ultimately, Yuki survived her shootout with Doom Eagle, though her injuries required her left arm to be placed in a cast. After the thugs retreated, Yuki was reunited with Sei, who was relieved to see that she was alive. When Noa arrived escorted by Sigma Team, Sei reprimanded him for throwing her off a balcony earlier. Upon hearing this, a furious Yuki requested permission to use "lethal force", but Sei told her that it was not necessary as they needed Noa alive for the Animus. Afterwards, Yuki accompanied Sei and Noa back to the Exitus.[4]
Retrieving the crescent amulet[]
- Sei: "What's going on, Yuki?! What happened to Noa?"
- Yuki: "I'm sorry, ma'am. The subject sensed the artifact's aura and then disappeared all of a sudden. I'm searching everywhere for him, but I only have about ten minutes' worth of oxygen left... I'll try my best to find him before I run out of air."

Yuki alerting Sei to Noa's rampage
Later, after Noa succumbed to the Bleeding Effect and went on a rampage aboard the Exitus, Yuki went to alert Sei about the situation, only to be surprised when the doctor asked that she be taken to Noa immediately. Yuki tried to dissuade her, warning Sei that confronting Noa was too dangerous, as even Sigma Team had been unable to restrain him. However, Sei remained undeterred and ordered all units to stand down while she handled the situation.[5]
Yuki and the others stood and watched as Sei tried to reason with Noa, only for him to pin her to the ground and raise a fire axe he had been using to massacre the guards. Fortunately, Sei was able to help Noa return to his senses at the last moment, and the axe narrowly missed her head, leaving everyone in the room speechless.[5]
Following this, Yuki accompanied Sei to a diving bell ship which her superiors had sent her in order to recover a crescent amulet—a Piece of Eden—from the Strait of Malacca. At Sei's request, she also retrieved a suitcase containing a prototype Animus HR-8, left to Sei by her old friend and colleague Layla Hassan, and prepared to accompany Noa, who was to dive down to the SS Ourang Medan's shipwreck and recover the amulet.[6]
While Noa was getting changed into his scuba gear, Yuki interrupted him, much to his awkwardness and annoyance. The bodyguard simply told Noa to quit being "such a prude" and that there was nothing she had not seen before, just as Sei arrived to inform Noa that Yuki would be accompanying him during his mission. Following this, Yuki and Noa entered the diving bell and went to explore the Medan's wreck in search of the Piece of Eden.[6]

After Noa narrowly avoided a shark attack, Yuki told him to stop fooling around as they only had a limited oxygen supply, which would run out in 30 minutes. She then prepared to lead the way into the Medan's hull, but as Noa's Eagle Vision was guiding him towards the amulet's location, Yuki decided to follow his lead instead. However, while swimming through a dark corridor, the two lost sight of each other and became separated.[6]
Yuki subsequently contacted Sei to inform her of the situation and claimed that she would try her best to find Noa, but as she only had ten minutes' worth of oxygen left, she needed to return to the ship soon.[7]
After five minutes passed and with no sign of Noa, Yuki contemplated heading back to the diving bell alone, but at that moment a floating skeleton touched her back, catching her off guard. Turning around to face it, Yuki saw more skeletons approaching her, much to her horror, though fortunately this turned out to be just an illusion projected by the amulet, which Noa had found.[8]
As the pair swam back to the diving bell, they were attacked by the same shark from earlier, but Noa used the amulet to repel it, surprising Yuki, who had assumed the Piece of Eden's powers only worked on humans. Once inside the diving bell, Yuki showed signs of concern for Noa, who was beginning to succumb to the amulet's corrupting influence, but Noa told her to stay away and not touch the artifact as he was the only one capable of withstanding its power.[8]
Betraying Abstergo[]
Yuki, Noa, and Sei confronted by Sigma Team
After returning to the Abstergo ship, Yuki brought the weakened Noa to Sei, and the trio began heading towards the sickbay when they were interrupted by Sigma Team. Claiming they had received instructions from Abstergo's executive committee ordering Noa's termination, the operatives attempted to carry them out. However, Sei convinced them to keep Noa alive for the time being by pointing out that, with him gone, any chance of researching the amulet was also lost.[8]
Once Sigma Team departed, Yuki, Noa, and Sei were left alone in the sickbay, where Yuki proceeded to hand Noa a briefcase and told him to place the amulet inside. When Noa asked what Sei and Yuki were up to, the former responded that she was trying to ensure his safety, but now that Abstergo's higher-ups had decided to kill him, time was running short. Sei then declared her intentions to help Noa escape from Abstergo, even if it meant betraying the company.[8]
At that moment, the ship's alarm rang, as the vessel had come under attack by Nathan Zhang and his men, whom Sei had made a secret deal with. Yuki, Sei, and Noa began making their way towards the ship's deck, with Yuki taking the lead and using her stun bracer to incapacitate a Sigma Team member, take his rifle, and kill another operative with it.[9]
On the deck, Nathan angrily confronted Sei upon seeing that Noa was slowly succumbing to the amulet's effects. Sei promised that she had thought of a solution to cure Noa, just as more Sigma Team operatives arrived and ordered the group to surrender. Out of options, Nathan told Sei, Noa, and Yuki to jump onto his speedboat, whereupon they escaped from the Abstergo ship and traveled to Singapore to lay low.[9]
Hiding out in Singapore[]
Yuki monitoring Sei in the Animus
At a Zhawang Corporation safehouse in Singapore's Chinatown district, Noa was taken to receive immediate medical attention due to his worsening condition. Meanwhile, Sei decided to relive the memories of her ancestor Shimazu Saito in the Animus HR-8 brought by Yuki, in order to find another Piece of Eden that could be used to cure Noa.[9]
During Sei's time in the Animus, Yuki served as her engineer, monitoring her condition. She also looked after the briefcase containing the crescent amulet, and stood guard alongside Nathan and his men in the event Abstergo managed to track them down.[9]
When Sei began to suffer from the Bleeding Effect, Yuki helped her out of the Animus, just as Noa arrived and volunteered to take Sei's place in the machine. The doctor protested, but in her weakened state, she could not stop Noa from entering the Animus. Following an argument between Sei and Nathan about Noa risking his life for Sei's, Noa resumed exploring Edward Kenway's memories as Yuki monitored him.[10]
Eventually, Edward's memories revealed the whereabouts of a Piece of Eden in the Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar. Yuki relayed the information to Sei, who remarked that Myanmar was in the midst of a civil war, likely complicating their mission. Just then, Nathan revealed that Abstergo had tracked them down and dispatched Sigma Team to capture them. Fortunately, thanks to a false tip, the agents were currently raiding a different building across the street, giving them enough time to escape.[11]
Yuki, Sei, and Noa attacked by Sigma Team
After Sei woke Noa up from the Animus and gave him an adrenaline shot, Yuki went to carry the weakened Noa, who struggled to stay on his feet. The group then left the safehouse and prepared to journey to Myanmar.[11] However, as they ran through an alley, they were attacked by several Sigma Team members, initiating a fight.[12]
Yuki used her rifle to gun down one of their assailants and watched in amazement as Sei, having absorbed Saito's skills through the Bleeding Effect, easily took down another Sigma Team member. After Noa and Nathan defeated the remaining operatives, the group boarded a seaplane and flew to a cargo ship which would bring them to Myanmar. Sei then returned to the Animus to continue reliving Saito's memories, with Yuki again monitoring her.[12]
Shwedagon Pagoda heist[]
- Yuki: "You're one to talk! You want the artifact's power just as badly as we do!"
- Nathan: "Uh huh, except like I said, we need it for our own survival, nothing more. Pinky promise, we'll keep the old thing somewhere nice and safe."
- —Yuki and Nathan arguing about their respective plans with the Pieces of Eden, c. 2023.[src]-[m]
As their ship sailed into Yangon, Nathan woke Sei up from the Animus with a slap. Yuki immediately threatened the Assassin for daring to lay his hands on her boss, but Sei calmed Yuki down and told her that there was no time to bicker among themselves. She then asked Nathan if there was a point to his slap or he just wanted to "settle a score", to which the Assassin informed Sei and Yuki that they had arrived at their destination.[13]
Yuki surveying the Shwedagon Pagoda
After bypassing a military checkpoint and entering Yangon, the group went to stay at a hotel near the Shwedagon Pagoda. There, Yuki monitored Noa, whose condition had worsened, to the point where he now believed himself to be Edward. When Sei asked to talk with "Edward", Yuki warned her to be careful, but the doctor was ultimately able to reach an agreement with "Edward" and convince him to help recover the Piece of Eden from Shwedagon so they could save Noa's life.[13]
During Sei and Noa's infiltration of the pagoda, Yuki surveyed the temple with a drone while Nathan and his men engaged in a shootout with the soldiers guarding the site as a distraction. However, during the fight, Sigma Team arrived and rappelled down onto Yuki and Nathan's location.[14]
Yuki helped Nathan and his men fight the Abstergo agents and contacted Sei to warn her that Sigma Team was approaching her and Noa's position. After Sei and Noa escaped the pagoda through a secret tunnel, Yuki used her drone to find them and informed Nathan. The Assassin proceeded to throw a grenade at the Sigma operatives, and Yuki had her drone drop additional explosives to cover their escape.[15]
After making it to safety, Yuki volunteered to drive to Sei and Noa's location, despite having been shot during the fight. Upon picking up Sei and Noa, the group drove away from Yangon to escape from the Abstergo forces hunting them.[15] They traveled to a safehouse in the countryside, where Sei became concerned upon seeing Yuki's injury and immediately brought her inside to tend to her wounds.[16]
Yuki and Nathan arguing at the safehouse
While Sei performed surgery on Yuki to remove the bullet in her body, the group discussed their next course of action. After Nathan suggested stealing a seaplane from a hangar near Yangon's harbor to flee Myanmar, Yuki instead proposed using the two Pieces of Eden in their possession to fight against Abstergo. Nathan opposed this idea, pointing out that the artifacts' power was useless against the Templars' superior technology, and accused Yuki and Sei of wanting to use the Pieces for their own gain.[16]
In response, Yuki accused Nathan of wanting the artifacts just as badly, to which the Assassin insisted that he only wished to safeguard them and had no intention of abusing their power. Yuki and Nathan's fight was eventually broken up by Noa, who insisted that the only things that mattered were their survival and keeping the Pieces out of Abstergo's reach. He then suggested separating the artifacts to reduce the risk of losing both, and handed Sei the artifact recovered from the Shwedagon Pagoda while he took the crescent amulet. Afterwards, the group left the safehouse, returning to Yangon.[16]
Infiltrating Yangon's harbor[]
While infiltrating Yangon's harbor, Yuki, due to her injuries slowing her down, stood back with Sei as Noa and Nathan took the lead and dispatched all Sigma Team members in their path. After Nathan left to save his men, who were being held captive aboard their own ship, Yuki, Sei, and Noa began making their way towards the hangar. However, during his infiltration of the ship, Nathan was caught by Sigma Team, causing the entire harbor to be placed on high alert.[17]
Yuki preparing to make her last stand
Soon, Yuki, Sei, and Noa found themselves surrounded by Sigma Team operatives from all sides, forcing them to run for cover before the Templars opened fire on them. Noa dispatched most of the operatives, but one of them managed to sneak up on Yuki and Sei and kick the former to the ground. Yuki promptly pulled out a pistol and shot the agent dead before Sei helped her back to her feet. As another operative appeared behind them, Noa returned and incapacitated him with his stun bracer.[18]
Arriving at the hangar, Yuki, Sei, and Noa boarded the seaplane and began to prepare for take-off. While waiting for Nathan to join them, Yuki realized that they would not have enough time to escape, as Abstergo reinforcements had just arrived, so she decided to buy the others more time. After arming herself with a rifle and several grenades, Yuki informed Sei and Noa of her intentions. Although they both tried to stop her, the bodyguard insisted that her only wish was to see Sei safe and that she would do anything to accomplish that goal.[18]
When Noa asked that Yuki at least let him accompany her, the bodyguard refused and told him that, while Noa may be a "knucklehead", he was also the only one who could protect Sei now. She then ordered him to stay with doctor and make sure no harm befell her and, after assuring both Noa and Sei that they had not seen the last of her, took her leave.[18]
Sacrifice[]
Yuki going out on her own terms
Finding Nathan and his men being chased by Sigma Team, Yuki opened fire on the Abstergo agents, allowing her allies to escape to safety. The Templars tried to return fire but were quickly gunned down by Yuki, prompting Sigma Team to call in two of their elite operatives—the Abyss Walkers—to deal with the threat.[18]
Although Yuki tried shooting them, the Abyss Walkers' speed and mobility allowed them to dodge the gunfire and close the distance. One of the operatives then sliced Yuki's right arm, preventing her from using her rifle, and moments later, both Abyss Walkers impaled Yuki through the abdomen with their katanas.[18]
Believing the threat to have been neutralized, Sigma Team prepared to advance towards the hangar. However, Yuki refused to go down just yet and, with the last of her strength, taunted her assailants, telling them that, with any luck, she would be taking all of them with her. She then pulled the pin of one of the grenades she carried, causing a massive explosion that killed all the nearby Sigma operatives, but also Yuki herself.[18]
Personality and traits[]
While at first glance Yuki was an extremely cheerful and friendly woman, this was just a ruse.[1] In reality, she was a ruthless, no-nonsense special forces agent who would stop at nothing to accomplish her objectives. She was very observant of her surroundings, as seen when she anticipated Doom Eagle's ambush after noticing a suspiciously large number of traffic accidents in Cebu. She also possessed somewhat of a sarcastic and dark sense of humor, which she displayed in her interactions with Noa Kim.[2]
Yuki and Sei smiling at each other
Yuki was extremely loyal and devoted to her boss, Shimazu Sei, being willing to give her own life for hers. After being injured during Doom Eagle's ambush, she trusted Noa to protect Sei in her stead and threatened to "hunt [him] down to the end of the Earth" if anything happened to her boss.[3] Upon learning that Noa had thrown Sei off a balcony, Yuki became furious and threatened to use "lethal force" against him until Sei told her it was not necessary.[4]
Having served Sei for years, Yuki's loyalty to her went so far that, when the doctor decided to abandon Abstergo and help Noa escape, the bodyguard followed her without question.[8] By contrast, she took an almost instant dislike to both Noa and Nathan Zhang and would frequently bicker with the latter,[16] yet she maintained her partnership with and even risked her life for them out of her loyalty to Sei, who trusted their new allies.[15][18]
After being severely injured during the group's mission to the Shwedagon Pagoda, Yuki, realizing that she was no longer in any condition to protect Sei, decided to do her best to ensure her boss' safety by sacrificing herself to buy Sei, Noa, and Nathan enough time to escape Yangon. Against the former two's protests, she faced Sigma Team alone and went out on her own terms by killing herself in an explosion that also claimed the lives of multiple Sigma operatives.[18]
Skills and equipment[]
Yuki readying her rifle
As a bodyguard, Yuki was trained in both marksmanship and hand-to-hand combat and always carried a weapon with her. During her time in Cebu, she carried a briefcase that contained a concealed assault rifle. She also wielded a non-lethal melee weapon in the form of a stun baton that extended from a bracer, similar to a Hidden Blade.[3]
Yuki was implied to be extremely physically strong, as just her pinching Noa's cheek was enough to cause him considerable pain.[1] She also proved to be a strong swimmer while exploring the underwater shipwreck of the SS Ourang Medan,[6] and appeared to have some skills as an engineer, monitoring Sei while she relived Shimazu Saito's memories in the Animus.[9]
Yuki was highly resilient, being able to drive a car and maintain her focus even after she was shot.[15] During her final moments, she gunned down multiple Sigma Team members even as she was being fired at, and was still able to stand on her feet and detonate a grenade after being impaled by two swords.[18]
