Yoshisada (died 1868) was a Japanese rōnin.
Biography[]
Yoshisada was once a veteran samurai but after a night of debauchery, he woke up atop a pile of corpses. From there, his honor was lost and became a rōnin. He and eight other rōnin were contracted by British Templar William Lloyd to steal the Musashi Masamune from a local daimyo Saigo Kayano. Despite the sword being a Masmune and thus a great bounty, he and the other rōnin agreed to retrieve it for Lloyd.[1] One night, they all arrived at Kayano's encampment and striked the soldiers at night. While the soldiers were no match for Lloyd and his rōnin, the rōnin made their way to Kayano's tent.[2]
However, he was stopped by a soldier Taisuke, who fought him with their yari. Attacking the soldier, Yoshisada was surprised by the soldier's skill but attacked more aggressively. While gaining an advantage, Yoshisada hesitated once their tunic revealed his attacker was a woman. However, his hesitation caused him to be defenseless as he was struck in the shin. Falling back, he was hit on his arm before the warrior put her yari into his chest. Grasping to fight back, Yoshisada succumbed to the hit and died there. Afterwards, Taisuke, who was Shiba Atsuko in disguise, redressed and took Yoshisada's katana to run and defend Kayano.[2]
Personality and traits[]
After his criminal acts,[1] his life as a rōnin made Yoshisada a cruel and sadistic man. He was a skinny, tall, and bald man, but was extremely skilled with a katana.[2]
