Yokohama (横浜) is the second largest city in Japan.

History

Sometime prior to 2001, the parents of Kō Risa immigrated to the city from China. Lisa herself was later born in the city.

In 2019, after Risa had been expelled from numerous schools for violent behavior, she was admitted to an Abstergo clinic in Yokohama to receive treatment. There she met Dr. Kaori Kagami who promised to aid her. In the clinic, Risa was put into an Animus to relive her ancestor Shao Jun's memories. After a few sessions, Dr. Kagami revealed to Risa the ongoing struggle between Assassins and Templars. Meanwhile, outside the clinic, the Assassin Kiyoshi Takakura spoke with his Mentor Saeko Mochizuki about his mission concerning Risa and Dr. Kagami.

Some days later, when Risa's cousin Mari approached her aunt in a restaurant and asked for Risa's whereabouts, her mother only replied that she was late. Fortunately, Mari found Risa in the streets after the latter was done with her session. While at a café, Mari and Risa were interrupted by the Japanese Assassin Kiyoshi, who told them to meet him at a secret location about the truth. Intrigued, they followed his directions the next day and met with Kiyoshi, who revealed of the war between the Assassins and Templars and how Dr. Kagami was using Risa for her own goals. However, Risa was reluctant to heed his warnings and left for her next session.

However, Mari stayed and listened to Kiyoshi, who stated Risa was expendable to the Templars and that her life may be in danger. Mari later found Risa again and informed her about Dr. Kagami's real purpose of the sessions and how Kiyoshi warned her of the Templars' callous methods. Realizing more of the truth, Risa went back to her session but with a more watchful on her doctor. After her session ended, Risa confronted Dr. Kagami about the Bleeding Effect, but the doctor retaliated by locking the room and holding a pistol on Risa.

However, after Risa was forced back into the Animus by Dr. Kagami's guards, they learned that Shao Jun lost possession of the Precursor box and her time was wasted on Risa. Surprisingly, Risa woke up and confronted Dr. Kagami on her manipulation. Meanwhile, Kiyoshi informed Mari about Risa's capture and both headed into the facility to rescue Risa. However, Risa saved herself and disarmed Dr. Kagami of her gun. Altogether, the cousins and Kiyoshi saw Dr. Kagami cower before Risa emptied the gun onto the Animus. Leaving Dr. Kagami in despair, Saeko and her guards waited outside. Offering a choice to Risa, Saeko recruited both her and Mari into the Brotherhood and assigned the task to find the Precursor box. Mari and Risa agreed to the mission.
