Xenokleia was a priestess working together with Hexione, the priestess tending to the Linou Farm. Together with Thelxiope, the three nursed the cult-reverence for the Eagle Bearer, the Spartan misthios Kassandra, in Linou around the time of the Peloponnesian War.

The three priestesses went to Argos in Argolis to hire the sculptor Polykleitos to make a statue to honour the Eagle Bearer. Unbeknownst to them, Polykleitos met along the way Kassandra herself, and brought her to the village. Though seemingly welcoming, the priestesses plotted to kill the misthios.[1]

Their first plan, poisoning her, was foiled as the girl Myrto stole a taste of the feast meant for Kassandra, and fell ill.[1]

Their second plan was that Kassandra would not be a match against the 'sacred bear' they kept in their cave between Elis and Arkadia.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Xenokleia, a character in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, shares her name with Xenoclea, a Pythia in the legends of Herakles and Iphitus of Oechalia.[2]
