RE:Edit on AC Encyclopedia

I have rewritten it (diff), I hope this is more readable. Sorry for that, I am more used to writing in Chemistry terms than laymen terms.

No probs. I just changed the accented letters you added to standard form. Nucl3arsnake (talk) 01:02, October 14, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you. Kainzor officially approves of your edits. You're hereby known as Pritchard, from now on. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 02:19, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

I see what you did there. By the way, happy birthday! Nucl3arsnake (talk) 12:13, October 17, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I appreciate it. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 12:56, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

Hi Nucl3arsnake,

Thanks for letting me know about the image sourcing issue. I actually drew this (admittedly simple) logo on ms paint myself, on this very computer. Still, I'm following up by reading the page you sent me to see if I can source it some way.

Thanks you! 22:53, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Nuc! Just for future reference, instead of edit-warring with other users, after like the second undo take it to their talk page until you guys get it resolved, it helps keep the wiki feed from being so clogged xD Thanks! --Fragment -Animus- 00:45, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

*facepalm* nucl3arsnake (talk) 01:02, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
And what exactly does that mean? -_- --Fragment -Animus- 01:17, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
It means that old men, are the future. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 01:51, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, so sorry! It's an oversight.

Based on the Greater Antilles wiki article, Jamaica is the fourth largest in the area. I made a typo in my previous edit summary. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 06:17, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Hmmm... *strokes chin hair* According to the Jamaica and Geography of Jamaica Wikipedia articles, Jamaica is the third largest island in the Greater Antilles. And according to multiple Internet sources, Jamaica is the third largest island in the Carribean Sea as well. nucl3arsnake (talk) 06:28, November 2, 2013 (UTC)
After looking at it, it depends on what is taken into account. It is the third if placed after Hispaniola (an island comprising of two soverign nations) and fourth if placed after Hisaniola's two nations, Haiti and Dominican Republic.
EDIT: Sorry, to clarify: Based on the wording "of which it is the third largest island" and not the "...largest country", I consent to it being the third and not the fourth. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 06:41, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Please note that you need to source any and all images you upload to the wiki in accordance to our image policy. For more information on how to source images, check this page. Also check the information about naming images appropriately. Badly named or unsourced images will be deleted. Feel free to reupload your deleted image with proper sourcing. Thank you. concept artist

Hey there!

I've seen your recent edits on the concept artists of Assassin's creed. I thought "Senior Concept Artist" was like a position, a title hence the capitalized letters? I agree with the change of Concept Artist to concept artist, but I'm a bit iffy on the Senior Concept Artist thing. Anyways, just wondering :) Crook The Constantine District 22:12, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Hmmmm *strokes chin hair* I think you're right. nucl3arsnake (talk) 22:16, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Just so you know, the imagevio template is for moderator/admin use only, so its best to let them take care of that. --Fragment -Animus- 01:51, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

My bad; thanks for the heads-up. nucl3arsnake (talk) 01:52, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
No prob, I made the same mistake once...anyways keep up the good edits! --Fragment -Animus- 02:22, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

My image

Can you please be patient before you leave a message on my talk page because while you were leaving that message, I was sourcing it. Next time I post an image, wait at least 5 minutes to leave a message because I know about our sourcing policy and right after I posted it, I sourced the image.

Raghava Shah 01:59, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

  • Yeah... that's just too bad. I kinda' pulled a Stormbeast on yah. You could have sourced and licensed your image when you uploaded it; sorry. nucl3arsnake (talk) 02:01, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
I was going to butt out, but since you mentioned me, I'll way in my two cents.
Raghava: You should be able to source your image as you upload it, not after.
Nucl3ar: The ImgVio template is for Staff use only. I send the message to any user who has uploaded an image, unsourced or otherwise policy-breaking, only if they have not been told before. Also, the unofficial word is to wait 24 hours before adding the delete template, not 5 minutes. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 02:06, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
When you add an image, i'm pretty sure you can only add the sourcing template (the one that says the liscensing, source, etc.)  after you've uploaded it. If I am wrong please tell me.
P.S. Nuclear can you please remove the image template from my message wall. Thanks :)
Raghava Shah 02:38, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
You might be uploading from the wrong spot. This is what you should be using. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 02:42, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
Death to edit conflicts!
And I'm afraid that I can't remove the ImgVio template, Raghava, as, according to Storm, regardless of the fact that I'm not even authorized to use it, the template stays, so the people know who has been warned for violating the image policy. nucl3arsnake (talk) 02:46, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
I have been uploading at the place where it says "Add a Photo" but I guess that is the wrong spot.... and I still don't understand why the template has to stay because I sourced it about a minute after I uploaded it but whatever....  Raghava Shah 02:52, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

Just look at my talk page; the same thing happened to me; tough luck. nucl3arsnake (talk) 02:54, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

Hey Nucl3arsnake!!

Nice to meet you.

I was just curious why you reverted my edit. It's fine that you did, I didn't even know if you were supposed to edit "database" articles, I'm just clicking "random page." :P Anyway, just curious. Also, on Theatre Royal or whatever the page is, Assassin's Creed IV is a reference, or a source... there's an extra cutscene after the credits with Edward taking a young Haytham to the show. Not sure if you saw it or not... just letting you know! Dunno if I should have told an admin or not. :P

-Ireithien (talk)

I undid your edit on the database page because the information on those pages are straight from the game, not meant to be correct by wiki standards. And Storm undid your edit to the Theatre Royal page because, though ACIV is a reference, no information from ACIV has been added to that page; once information has been added to the page from ACIV, you can then add the reference back. nucl3arsnake (talk) 03:00, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
I see. Okay! That's fine. Didn't realize. :P And actually, I didn't make the edit, I just thought I'd ask anyway while I was here. Thanks for the response!

-Ireithien (talk)

Sorry to butt in, but do they name Theatre Royal as the theater that Edward is in at the end of the game?
Raghava Shah 03:02, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
I don't know (haven't played the game). I was just putting the pieces together: In ACIII, when Reginald Birch asked Haytham had he seen Gay's work before, Haytham said, "Once. My father brought me here as a child, though I remember little of it." And apparently, at the end of ACIV, Edward is shown with a young Haytham at a theatre, so... nucl3arsnake (talk) 03:08, December 3, 2013 (UTC)
Good point... Raghava Shah 03:11, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

Punctuation information

I noticed the note on your re-edit, and just for clarification, there actually isn't a difference in terms of punctuation between a quote and a phrase in the American standard, as I mentioned here. As it seems unclear what standards we are using, I don't intend to revert it, but just wanted to be clear that both of our versions are legitimate as of now.

Molotov.cockroach (talk) 06:39, December 5, 2013 (UTC)

Yes. YOU. I think you're now eligible enough to join the Apprenticeship...

AgentG-sig.png AgentG-talk.png 05:46, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

I'm glad you think I'm worthy of apprenticeship, but, sadly, I am far too lazy for the projects I've seen assigned to apprentices. nucl3arsnake (talk) 06:54, December 22, 2013 (UTC)

This a friendly warning before templates come into play: Don't edit-war on an article's history.

If you disagree with a decision, take it to talk pages or the IRC. Slate Vesper (talk) 21:08, June 5, 2014 (UTC)

I already know this. I didn't take it to a talk page because I wasn't wrong in any way; I broke no policy rules. The other user, however, seems to have reverted my edits just for the lulz, with his reason being something around "that scares the new guys away" this time around. Absolutely ridiculous, if you ask me; we can't help it if new users break policy rules. nucl3arsnake (talk) 21:14, June 5, 2014 (UTC)
I'm not "doing it for the lulz". I started doing it because Kain and some other user began to show no patience and marked unsourced images within a few minutes of being uploaded. I'm giving users 24 hours to source their images. If they are poorly named, I rename them once they are properly sourced. Currently, I can find no source for this image, but for future images, the same rule will apply: 24 hours before the delete template is added (sometimes V's bot gets rid of them, not an admin). Also a reminder to stop adding the unnecessary spaces near the bottom of articles. I let you have development team articles, but not the mainspace ones. You say it "causes no harm"but it does when you think about consistency. It looks fine the way it is and you're only upsetting the balance of the other 95% of the articles. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 21:23, June 5, 2014 (UTC)
Just because you thought you weren't wrong or broke no rules is no excuse. Take the issue to talk pages or the IRC. Edit-warring clogs up the Recent changes feed and isn't tolerated in any regard.
The 24 hour quasi-rule was agreed upon by the Staff in the IRC and unsourced images are tolerated for the first 24 hours as a grace period, in order to allow for the appropriate chance to convince the user to source the image appropriately as per the guidelines. If they fail to do so, it is entirely fair to flag the image for deletion at the soonest opportunity. Slate Vesper (talk) 21:25, June 5, 2014 (UTC)

@Slate Vesper: Well I don't know what goes on in IRC; if you haven't noticed, I don't frequent this Wiki's IRC channel. No offence to the mods or staff of this site, but if that rule became a general consensus in the IRC channel, they should have added it to the Image policy, so I wouldn't have been misguided into thinking that only Storm opposed the immediate adding of the Deletion template to files that don't adhere to said policy.

@Stormbeast: To your second little addition to this conversation: it's proper formatting on wikis I've been to, so I tend to do it automatically, and I don't know why you brought that into this discussion anyway, since (1) I haven't done it to a lot of "main articles", as you call them, and (2) it's completely irrelevant to this discussion. nucl3arsnake (talk) 21:35, June 5, 2014 (UTC)

What do you mean about the Former British colonies category being for mainspace only? That category is used for many others similar to the Barbados category. -Molotov.cockroach (talk) 03:40, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

Actually, there is only one subcategory (Category:The Bahamas) that uses the Former British colonies category. That category is reserved for the mainspace (excluding that subcategory I mentioned, which I'm about to correct), as seen here. nucl3arsnake (talk) 03:47, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
Okay, I just want to make sure we're not undoing each other's edits here, so let's square this away. Where do you see that those categories are just for mainspace as you say? Not questioning you, I just want to confirm what categories that applies to and where I can see the designation. -Molotov.cockroach (talk) 04:14, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
This is starting to confuse me as well, with both of you being on exact opposite sides of what's going on. The way I see it, geographically-named categories should be sub-categorized, while such things as Islands and Former Empires/Colonies should be left on the article itself. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 04:24, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
Works for me. We'll stick to Nuke's way, then. -Molotov.cockroach (talk) 04:26, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
Like I said, you two are polar opposites. It's not "Nuke's way" because he's doing something different than what I mentioned. Stormbeast The Helpful Place 04:28, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, sorry, that sounded like it resembled Nuke's way of doing it more, since he was adjusting categories in the way you suggested. Regardless, I'll stick to your version. I think it sounds reasonable. -Molotov.cockroach (talk) 04:46, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
Caribbean category

I gathered that this category was a mainspace-only category due to the fact that Alientraveller was the one who added the category to the categories I removed it from in the first place, and he/she didn't complete their little task + most of the categories similar to the category I removed it from didn't contain the Caribbean category either, which lead me to assume that Alientraveller didn't really know what he/she was doing.

Former x colonies

Simply a matter of the majority. These categories seem to be used solely on articles.

Once again simply a matter of the majority. All of the pages in this category are mainspace articles. The only exceptions are the "Islands of x nation" categories, which, unlike The Bahamas category, don't have mainspace articles pertaining to their said category.

I hope that all makes sense. nucl3arsnake (talk) 04:40, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

It does, thank you. Looking back I noticed the same thing as you, that they were added by another editor who was just maybe never corrected. I think the categorization method that Storm suggested sounds good, so I have no problem sticking with that. -Molotov.cockroach (talk) 04:46, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

I please ask you to not edit the Mayans page and say they were mostly based on Mexico, the Mexicans had the Aztecs, like Guatemala the Mayans. You can find proof of this anywhere on the internet. The only Mexican place the Mayans were was in the Yucatán Peninsula. Apart from that they were mostly based on Guatemala and Central America. But I do appreciate your kind concern to make sure the site stays real. Than you. unsigned comment by (talk · contr)

You have a point. You're right about the Mayans not being mostly based in Mexico, which is why I've edited the Mayans article to say "southern Mexico", pertaining to the Yucatán Peninsula specifically. However, you're wrong for only including Guatemala, as if it's the only Central American country the Mayans were known to have inhabited; they were also situated in Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador - three countries that I have included on the Mayans and Central America articles. nucl3arsnake (talk) 02:02, June 22, 2014 (UTC)
