The island
An uncharted island located in Southeast Asia was used as a hideout by members of the Zhawang Corporation in the early 21st century. The island's remoteness, along with the fact that it did not appear on any known map, made it an ideal hiding spot for individuals wishing to lay low for short periods of time.[1]
History[]
Circa 2023, after escaping from Yangon, Myanmar, with a Piece of Eden recovered from the Shwedagon Pagoda, the Assassin Nathan Zhang and Noa Kim sought refuge on the island while hiding from Abstergo Industries. Although Nathan intended to lay low to avoid detection by Abstergo so they would not lose the artifact in their possession, Noa believed that they needed to acquire another Piece of Eden and use it to save Shimazu Sei and stop Abstergo's plans. To track down the artifact, Noa used the Animus HR-8 to relive Edward Kenway's genetic memories while Nathan and his men watched over him.[1]
During Noa's time in the Animus, Abstergo discovered the island and dispatched Sigma Team to eliminate Noa and Nathan and secure the Piece of Eden in their possession. Nathan and his men were nearly killed by the team's Abyss Walkers, but Noa awoke from the Animus in time to deal with the Abstergo agents. He and Nathan then fought more Sigma Team members, only to find that their seaplane had been destroyed, leaving them stranded on the island.[2]
Fortunately, Nathan's sister Claire Zhang, the Zhawang Corporation's director, had sent a trio of Assassins to the island to rescue him and Noa. The Assassins defeated the remaining Sigma Team members and helped Noa and Nathan escape on their speedboat. As the group fled the island and headed to Jakarta, Abstergo tried to follow them with a drone but it was remotely destroyed by Nathan's allies, the hacker group DedSec.[3]
