The Wages of War was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description[]
Eivor spoke with the new King of Dublin, Sichfrith, after the unfortunate death of his father and Eivor's cousin, Bárid mac Ímair.
Dialogue[]
Eivor entered the King's Hall and spoke with Sichfrith, sitting emotional and impatiently.
- Sichfrith: Eivor! We will march upon Armagh immediately!
- Eivor: This place smells like a brewer's hut.
- Sichfrith: I will blood eagle the abbot with my own hands! I will blanket the North with the skull of petty kings.
Azar walked into the middle of the conversation.
- Eivor: Enough! If you charge into Armagh like a berserker, they will crucify you like their Christ.
- Azar: I am sorry to tell you, my king, the siege weapons you requested are being held by Armagh.
- Sichfrith: Hel have that abbot! Those weapons were to show of the strength of Dublin's new king.
- Eivor: Forget about shows of strength. Cast your fortunes with Flann. The High King will be a powerful ally if you back him now.
Sichfrith nodded in agreement.
- Eivor: Where are these weapons coming from? Who is supplying Armagh?
- Azar: A shadowy web of pirates run by a druid cult. They roost along the northern coast, looting and trading in equal measure.
- Eivor: These druids, do they call themselves the Children of Danu?
- Azar: In fact, they do. Led by one they call "The Seed." Now that you have their scent, I wish you a good hunt. If there is nothing more, my king, I will return to my shop.
Azar and Sichfrith nodded as Azar left for her shop.
- Sichfrith: I will gather what forces I can, wherever I can, and join them to Flann's. Together, we will avenge my father.
- Eivor: You have a strength that comes from him. When you find that, men will follow.
Eivor left Sichfrith as she obtained a clue from Azar about The Seed. The clue noted that the location of The Seed can be further detailed when investigating Movilla Abbey, in northeastern Ulster. Eivor traveled and arrived at the abbey and probed the area. Eivor looked inside the church within the abbey and found another clue on a bench inside the church. The note was made out to The Deer to stop The Seed from taking their children to war against Flann Sinna. [citation needed]
- At this point, Eivor may or may not have already killed The Deer. However, if not, Eivor looked for any clues of The Deer and sought out to kill another Child of Danu.
After The Deer's death, Eivor obtained his clue about The Seed. The clue was a note from The Seed, detailing his presence and work at Dunseverick Fortress. From all the clues, Eivor deduced his identity to be Lord Bécc mac Nath-í and then traveled to the fortress. After searching the stronghold, Eivor caught sight of Bécc and assassinated him, ending his supply run and his teachings for the Children of Danu. Eivor found both Bécc's amber shard and a letter from The Oak.
A letter to The Seed
- Eivor: So the abbot leads the Children of Danu. Both druid and bishop, what god will greet him at his death?
Eivor escaped the area and went to talk with Flann.
Outcome[]
Eivor assassinated The Seed and found out that Abbot Eogan is the leader of the Children of Danu.
