The Perfume Trader was a virtual representation of one of Basim Ibn Ishaq's genetic memories.[1]
Description[]
Basim was tasked with investigating a perfume trader for his ties with bandits.
Contract[]
The Perfume Trader
- To the Hidden Ones:
Well, well, well... My ploy has borne fruit! The flow of the marked coins suggests that a Perfume Trader is the snake working with the bandits. I require one of you to infiltrate his quarters in the Oil Maker's District and search for evidence of his involvement. After all, we merchants will not resort to violence until certain of our target.
Now, I demand a bit more haste this time. The boy who delivered the marked coins was quite the dawdler. Was he even a fully-licensed Hidden One? I expect better this time. MUCH BETTER.
–The Trade Delegate
Dialogue[]
Basim accepted the contract and made his way to Karkh and then arrived at the Oil Maker's District. There, he infiltrated the district and overheard the Abbasid Caliphate's soldiers talking.
- Soldier 1: The chief left in a hurry. I could almost smell the fear on him.
- Soldier 2: Maybe that is why he wears so much of his wares, huh? Anyway, come on. Time for a break.
Basim entered the perfume trader's office in the district. There, he found a ledger on the second floor.
- Basim: This does not look good for the perfume trader, but I need more proof.
Basim found a vase with the marked coins on the first floor.
- Basim: Now I have all the proof I need to connect the perfume trader to the bandits. I should go before they catch my scent.
After finding evidence of the perfume trader's alliance with the bandits, Basim left the district unseen.
- Basim: Done to perfection.
Basim later met with the Trade Delegate at a quiet location in Karkh.
- Basim: Your suspicions were on the nose. The ledger and marked coins connect the perfume trader to the bandits.
- The Trade Delegate: Good work. And I appreciate you getting the job done in a timelier fashion on this occasion.
Basim left the delegate and completed the contract.
Outcome[]
Basim uncovered evidence of the perfume trader's connections to the attacks on the other merchants.
