Thasos City (Greek: Θάσος) is the main settlement on the island of Thasos, Greece. In classical antiquity it was a major polis located in the City of the Champion region of the Hephaistos Islands.
Among its landmarks, Thasos boasted an akropolis sanctuary dedicated to Athena, Pan and Apollo; as well as a theater and a gymnasium where Olympic athletes such as Theagenes could train.
During the Peloponnesian War the city was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
