Shouldn't Chang'an be merged with Xi'an, if Xi'an is the modern name? V i l k a T h e W o l f (talk) 12:57, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
- It seems like we never codified the rule for this, but I always thought our conventional guideline is to prefer the name that is used in the media and/or used more significantly as opposed to the real-world, current name or the name used in a minor mention. I know a precedent for this is Alep, the name of the city in its only appearance Altaïr's Chronicles, instead of Aleppo. I can't think of an example where we did vice versa. Xi'an being only mentioned off-hand in a collectible is not as significant as Chang'an being a major part of the plot of a work. Technically, until the release of Dynasty, we can argue that its not-yet-released status means that Xi'an should be prioritized, but since it is supposedly going to be released, we might as well not switch it back and forth. (Also I admit that I'm biased for Chang'an because all its enormous significance in real-world history has been under that name). Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 21:21, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
