Takahashi Taro (died 1582) was a Japanese samurai and member of the Takahashi clan who lived in Kyoto.

Biography[]

Son of Takahashi Inoshichi, Taro and his siblings Jiro, Shiro, Ichi-Hime, and Saburo were extensively trained by their father after their mother's passing, except for Goro. Taro compared himself to his father and saw himself as the true leader of the clan. Under his father's orders, he, Shiro, Jiro, and Saburo exerted their power and abused the trust of Kyoto's locals.^[1]

By 1582, Taro still saw his destiny as leader of his family, but believed that he still needed practice to become as cruel as his father. He also berated Goro and Ichi-Hime upon finding out about their desire to leave the family and its legacy behind.^[1]

Eventually, his family's actions drew the ire of Ujimasa, an ally of former Ise clan leader Ise Sadatame, who met with Sadatame's allies, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, about taking the Takahashi clan down.^[2] Using information they gathered around Kyoto, the Kakushiba ikki members tracked Taro to the Asukai Clan Domain, where he was training, and ended his life.^[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Depending on the player's choice, if Taro is not killed before his father Takahashi Inoshichi, he will join Jiro, Shiro, and Saburo at their father's secret garden to avenge his death. Meanwhile, Goro and Ichi-Hime can be spared by the player, becoming free of their family's grasp. Thus, Taro may be killed at the Asukai Clan Domain or at the secret garden.
