Takahashi Goro was a Japanese samurai of the Takahashi clan who lived in Kyoto.
Biography[]
Son of Takahashi Inoshichi, Goro watched his siblings Ichi-Hime, Taro, Jiro, Shiro, and Saburo being intensely trained by their father after their mother passed away. In contrast, Goro was never trained properly as a samurai. Under his father's orders, his family became local thugs and terrorized Kyoto and its people.[1]
By 1582, Goro came to realize that his family was damaging their name and wished to leave with Ichi-Hime from Kyoto. However, he still wanted to appease his family and make his father proud of him. Conflicted, he wandered the burnt buildings at the Shōkoku-ji Temple.[1]
Meanwhile, his family's trangressions caught the attention of Ujimasa, a friend of former Ise clan leader Ise Sadatame, who talked with Sadatame's allies, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, about the Takahashi's abuse of power over Kyoto.[2] At one of the destroyed buildings, Naoe and Yasuke confronted Goro as he was talking to himself and decided his fate.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Takahashi Goro, alongside Ichi-Hime, is one of the only two members of his family who can be spared by the player, if his father Inoshichi and other four brothers were killed first and if all relevant clues were collected beforehand. When confronting Goro at the Shōkoku-ji Temple, Naoe or Yasuke will have the option to either kill or spare him, after determining that he is not like the rest of his family. If spared, Goro will plead mercy for Ichi-Hime before walking away.[1]
