Zixuan Long holding the Staff of Seth
The Staff of Seth is a Staff of Eden, a piece of leftover Isu technology, that belonged to Seth. It is directly connected to the Rings of Seth, a set of three rings said to be bestowed upon Seth's champions.[1]
History[]
In 2016, the Abstergo Industries archaeologist Dr. Zixuan Long located the artifact. With it, he was able to activate the Ring of Blood through his assistant, who he controlled into carrying out a massacre at the Omovich mansion in London.[1] Some time later he once again controlled her into carrying out his will, this time meaning to steal the Ring of Sand from the British Museum.[2]
Dr. Long took the Staff to an Isu vault beneath the Valley of the Kings, where he believed Apophis dwelled. There, he was confronted by an Assassin cell that had been investigating the mansion massacre and had acquired the three Rings of Seth. Using the Staff, he made the Assassins believe they were in a crimson desert with ominous black storm clouds instead of the painted halls of the tomb complex. He then seemingly transformed to mirror the mythological depictions of Seth before summoning shadow warriors and a sandstorm to attack the Assassins while remaining safe behind an energy shield. As the battle between them continued, however, his powers started to weaken, allowing the Assassins to deliver a killing blow.[3]
The illusions cast by the Staff faded, and the group noticed that while Dr. Long was still clutching the staff, his posture and expressions had completely changed, having been taken over by the Isu Seth. As he spoke, the Assassins heard the voice resonate inside their minds, transmitted through the rings. He congratulated them on their ability, tasking them with safeguarding the vault and the Apophis Project sealed within, using the Staff to grant them a vision of an apocalyptic world that would exist if it was ever let loose.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The Staff of Seth as depicted in the artwork of the Assassin's Creed Roleplaying Game resembles a was-sceptre. Although Pharaoh Shabataka is shown in Glyphs from the 2009 video game Assassin's Creed II as wielding another Staff of Eden in the same shape,[4] it is unknown if these Staves are the same item.
