St. Kenhelm's Church was a Christian church in honor of Saint Kenhelm located in northern Glowecestre, Glowecestrescire, England.
History[]
In 876, during her pledge to Glowecestrescire, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir tried to clear her name of Tewdwr's "murder" and came to the discovery of Cynon framing her.[1] Back in Glowecestre, under the disguise of the Mari Lwyd, Eivor discussed Cynon's whereabouts with Gwenydd and the Samhain festival planners. From her discussions, Eivor learned that Cynon was locked and guarded inside St. Kenhelm's Church. However, a planner named Geva had the key for the church on her person. Eivor learned that a crate was needed to be delivered to Geva and headed to Geva. Geva was found waiting in the church's graveyard and led a disguised Eivor to the church's entrance.[2]
As Geva led the way, Eivor found an opening and went inside the church. Inside, Eivor heard Cynon's voice, but had no sight of him. Looking around, Eivor found a locked yet breakable door. Breaking the door open, Eivor caught Cynon praying as Cynon was left vulnerable. Accusing Cynon of framing her, Eivor believed Cynon wanted Tewdwr in his place of the burning. Cynon rejected such a notion but admitted to wanting Tewdwr gone, due to his bias against the pagans. Cynon also admitted that the plan was devised by Modron herself and that she would take over when he passed. Cynon saw that he would leave his legacy in good hands, both his land and his daughter, Gwenydd.[2]
Surprised, Eivor saw that Cynon framed her and wanted his daughter to grow up safe and sound. However, within their discussion, Eivor let Cynon know that Tewdwr renounced his earlier statements of a sole Christian way. Eivor stated that Tewdwr would be a leader to both Christians and pagans of his shire. Realizing his plan worked, excluding the attempted murder, Cynon told Eivor that Modron has Tewdwr in her forest temple at Aelfwood. After hearing Cynon's information, Eivor decided Cynon's fate and left the church to save Tewdwr.[2]
