ACOD Key to Olympos

The complete Sphinx Medallion

The Sphinx Medallion was an Isu artifact, and the key to activate the Sphinx's appearance at the Lair of the Sphinx south of Lake Kopais in Boeotia.

History[]

Around 429 BCE, the Spartan misthios Kassandra was given one half of the medallion by her father, Pythagoras, at the Gateway to the Lost City. According to Pythagoras, the other half was being tracked by his associate, Gorgias.[1] When Kassandra met Gorgias within the strange ruins of the Sphinx, the man directed him to find his student, Pibos. Kassandra found the second half of the medallion ultimately in the corpse of the lion which had slain and eaten Pibos at the Tomb of Menoikeus.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Like the other 'keys' to the Olympos Project lairs in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, the Sphinx Medallion bears a resemblance to the Phaistos Disc. However, instead of the symbols being arranged in a spiral, the version in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey has them in two distinct wheels, around a plain center.
