A view of the Slave Market

The Slave Market was a market for the selling and buying of slaves within Chalkis City in Euboea, Greece.

During the Peloponnesian War the misthios Kassandra met the slave Agapios and his master, the magistrate of Chalkis, at the Slave Market. While there, she overheard the slavers promoting their captured human cargo, but they tended to be poor businessmen, sometimes lying about their stock's qualities and either being undersold or regularly accepting half-hearted bids of only incremental price increases.[1]
