ACO - Shrine of Serapis

The shrine of Serapis.

The Shrine of Serapis was a small shrine dedicated to the Greco-Egyptian god Serapis, located northeast in Kanopos Nome, Egypt, during the 1st century BCE.

In 48 BCE, scenes of gruesome, ritualistic ceremonies drew the attention of the Medjay Bayek of Siwa. One of these scenes was located at this shrine to Serapis, under which there was a small chamber in the cliff face. Within this chamber, someone had crudely prepared a body for burial, removing at least its stomach.[1]
