Seker (died 47 BCE) was an Egyptian worker who worked in a quarry in the Green Mountains region of Cyrenaica during the mid-1st century BCE.
Biography[]
Around 47 BCE, Seker and his co-workers plotted to initiate a revolt against the Romans in charge of the quarry. Despite advice by a fellow worker Hapti, who was against the revolt, Seker nevertheless decided to go ahead with the plan. However, Seker's plan failed, for the Romans answered with deadly force, slaughtering the workers, including Seker. The corpses were dumped in a corner in the quarry, and left to rot. When he reached the quarry, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa was disgusted by the treatment of the workers, and slew those responsible.[1]
