Saint John's Gate was the name used for the northern exit gate in the Middle District of the city Acre.
History
In 1191, the Levantine Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad eavesdropped on two Knights Teutonic at the square in front of Saint John's Gate.[1] The two were interrupted by their Grand Master Sibrand, who scolded them for potentially speaking within earshot of hidden enemies.[1]
Sibrand also wrote a letter to his Templar master Robert de Sablé, which was to be delivered by a dockworker to a courier at Saint John's Gate. However, Altaïr pickpocketed the letter before it could reach the courier.[1]
Altaïr later provided an informant with safe passage to Saint John's Gate, in exchange for information on Sibrand.
Trivia
- Saint John's Gate is identified as being to the north of the Assassins' Bureau in Acre by the Rafiq Jabal, as one of the locations wherein Altaïr should focus his search for information regarding his target Sibrand. However, the Prima Official Game Guide mistakenly claims that the gate comprises the two leading to the docks in Acre harbor, despite the Rafiq describing the docks as being to the east of the Bureau.
