The Pnyx is a hill in Athens, Greece, where ancient Athenians assembled. It was also where decrees were ratified, budgets were voted on, and administration members were appointed, thus making it an important site in the city.
History[]
In 431 BCE, the Spartan misthios Kassandra came to the Pnyx, where she met with Herodotos. There, the historian introduced her to Perikles, a statesman who was giving a speech to the gathered citizens.[1]
Later, sometime between 424 and 422 BCE, Kassandra and her friend and philosopher, Sokrates, put up a performance to encourage the Athenians to vote against Kleon's efforts to put the whole population of Mytileneans to death.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The game's depiction of the Pnyx is accurately based on the Phase I of the real Pnyx which was present during the game's timeframe.[3][4]
