Pig of Prophecy was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.[1]
Description[]
Eivor encountered a man talking to a pig named Matilda and investigated.
Dialogue[]
Eivor arrived at Dorobernia Theater, where she saw an odd scene of one man watching another who was talking to a pig.
- Anglo-Saxon Man 1: What? What are you saying? The red sparrow will settle in the cuckoo's nest?
One leg? Who will lose it, her or me?
In water, iron then shall float. As easy as a wooden boat? Iron? What madness do you spout, devil?
Eivor approached the watching man.
- Eivor: Who is that man talking to?
- Anglo-Saxon Man 2: Matilda. Pig sees the future.
- Eivor: Loki's twisted threads. What trick is this?
- Anglo-Saxon Man 2: None. You drink. Pig speaks.
Disbelieving the situation she found herself in, Eivor approached the pig and skeptically spoke to it.
- Eivor: Hello, pig!
- Pig of Prophecy: (pig sounds)
- Anglo-Saxon Man 1: I must drink more, to get clearness on your words, pig. Clearness... That is such a strange word? Is that a word?
Eivor drank of a cloudy brew that was in a bucket nearby and talked to the pig in a haze.
- Eivor: I don't feel anything. Are you a talking pig?
- Pig of Prophecy: I, Matilda the Seer, lift the veil. Shall I show you what is to come, Raven?
Eivor drank of the brew again and spoke to the pig, who told her a number of prophecies.
- Pig of Prophecy: River's swan. The gloved hand does hold the clever boy. He weaves his words, the meter measured.
Beneath the Sacred City, where panthers prowl. He will find what stole the Maiden's Blush and begin the final journey.
Gods will rise and kings will fall, but never will the blackbirds sprawl.

Betrayal burns your blood, Raven-Feeder. Brother against brother, till wolves devour the sky.
The rooster taunts the hen. "Nock, nock," says he, all a-quiver, "I'll steal your chicks and sling a feather in your eye."
Trapped in the wyrd, bound for glory. What will you give for its tarnished hue? Who will die?
Chop the wood. Grind the corn. They'll lie in ashes before the morn.
The cat is in the well. Let us ring now for her knell. Ding-dong, ding-dong bell.
White and red war. Thirty years, the sons of the licentious lion tear at the earth and sod. Shame on him who thinks ill of it.
Spin, deathly Jenny, dance and prowl. Weave through the baa-lambs, as they howl.
He is bound in sleep-thorn. Free him! Free him!
Green horses! Riding from the dragon-land.
He who has the mercy of God. Lords will bind him in scarlet ribbons, sap his strength. But they give his people voice.
Who are you? A seeker. A wanderer. A killer. Woman or man, you wear a magician's cloak and speak to ravens.
He cuts down the stalks, waving-wild under a gibbous moon. But Christ's army will follow poor soldier to the sands and back.
Swarthy he comes. Eternal yonder sea. Strike his sword in the land.
Smack your lips, for you shall be the king's suckling sauce.
Men of the Church Father. Serpent's tongue sets torches alight in the winter night. Seeking to end the first of the line. - Eivor: Whatever was in that brew ... it was powerful and mind-twisting.
Before leaving, Eivor spoke to watching man again.
- Eivor: That pig. Where did you get such a surprising creature?
- Anglo-Saxon Man 2: Market.
- Eivor: And... is that all you have to say?
- Anglo-Saxon Man 2: Pig speaks enough for both of us.
The first man piped up from where he still stood beside the pig.
- Anglo-Saxon Man 1: These are strange things you tell me, Matilda the Seer! Strange things indeed.
Outcome[]
Eivor drank twice from a strange brew and talked to Matilda the Seer.
Behind the scenes[]
According to fan site Access the Animus, some of the prophecies are considered references to other main titles of the Assassin's Creed series or as foreshadowing for Eivor's story.[2] Others are more obvious references to real-world future events—relative to the 870s in which the game's events take place—such as the War of the Roses and the invention of the spinning jenny.
Although Matilda has over 20 prophecies to recite at random, the world event is counted as complete once Eivor has heard two prophecies, one of which automatically triggers after the initial inebriated introduction. Players may return and drink again to hear more prophecies as many times as they like.
