Pierre de Rosteguy de Lancre, Lord of De Lancre (1553 – 1631), was a judge of Bordeaux, France and a member of the Parisian Rite of the Templar Order.
As Inquisitor appointed by King Henry IV,[1] Lancre went to Bayonne in 1609 to recover an artifact from the healer Catherine who was accused of witchcraft. When she refused to talk, the Templar burnt her alive before her adoptive daughters Margaux and Ermeline, then kept Ermeline as hostage while Margaux fled.[2]
