Penguin Books, a division of Penguin Random House, is a London-based publishing company. Initially a publisher of inexpensive but high-quality paperbacks, it has expanded into the flagship imprint of the Penguin Group of publishers, a subsidiary of Pearson PLC.
History[]
Penguin Books was formed in 1935, founded by Sir Allen Lane.[1]
In November 2009, the first news of Penguin books partnering with Ubisoft was revealed. Assassin's Creed: Renaissance was to be a novelization of the recently released video game, Assassin's Creed II, written by Oliver Bowden, the pseudonym of Anton Gill. Penguin's editorial director, Alex Clarke stated that "Penguin are hugely excited to be publishing the novelization to the second Assassin's Creed game" and that "This partnership presents at last a way for traditional book-publishing to cross-over with the ever growing and increasingly exciting world of gaming media."[2] The novel was then released on 26 November in the United Kingdom and 23 February 2010 in the United States.
Penguin Books subsequently published many more novelizations of the Assassin's Creed series. In recent publications however, Penguin Books has only published the UK versions and not international (with the exceptions of the novelization for Odyssey).
