Nicias (c. 470 – 413 BCE), alternatively Nikias, was an Athenian politician and general during the Peloponnesian War.
Following the Battle of Amphipolis in 422 BCE, Nicias led the Athenian delegation engaging Sparta in peace-talks.[1] However, the peace was not permanent. Although the treaty brought forth called for fifty years of peace, the treaty was broken within a decade.[2]
