This article is about the mercenary. For other uses, see Nestor. |
Nestor the Great was a mercenary who operated in Greece during the Peloponnesian War.
Nestor lived by a motto, "Retirement is for the dead," and continued to wage war and collect bounties until he could prove his motto true.
During the war, Nestor crossed paths with the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who accepted a bounty contract on the former.[1]
Behind the scenes
The name of Nestor (Νέστωρ), a character in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, is derived from the Greek word νέομαι (neomai) "I return" and the agent noun -τωρ (-tōr) "-er". He also shares the name with the legendary King of Pylos and Messenia in Greek mythology.
