Nailah and her siblings "attack" Bayek
Nailah was a daughter of Menehet, a priest of the Temple of Sekhmet in Yamu, Egypt during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.
Biography
As a daughter of Menehet, a respected priest of the Temple of Sekhmet in Yamu, Nailah grew up in the temple. Alongside her siblings Soris, Hasina, and Keba, she was well acquainted with the Medjay of Siwa, Bayek, in her childhood, and she and her siblings affectionately referred to him as Uncle Bayek. In 48 BCE, when Bayek stopped by Yamu on his way to Alexandria to rendezvous with his wife, Aya, he paid a visit to Menehet. It was then that Nailah and her siblings—who were supposed to be with their mother—snuck up on Bayek from behind and pretended to attack him. Although the Medjay had noticed their approach, he playfully went along with the 'ambush' before initiating a game of hide-and-seek.[1]
Nailah hid behind a column in the first hypostyle hall of the temple and was found easily by Bayek. While she eagerly exclaimed that it would be his turn to hide next, the Medjay gently told her to step away from her spot lest she obstruct the coming and going of the temple priests. After the rest of her siblings had been found, the game did not continue as Nailah suggested earlier, and they instead returned home.[1] Later Bayek met them in the public court again, where the Medjay complimented Nailah for being well-educated.[2]
Personality and characteristics
A playful girl as a child, Nailah was also quite knowledgeable for her age, for which Bayek praised her but advised that she be careful of whom she shares her intellect with. To this, she assured him that she was always a cautious individual by nature.[2]
