Basim: "I cannot place your face, but you bear our mark."
Naaji: "I am Naaji, one of Mentor Rayhan's informers. I asked for a more difficult assignment but maybe I should not have."
—Naaji telling Basim about his first official mission for the Hidden Ones, 860s.[src]-[m]

Naaji was a Hidden One of the Alamut Brotherhood who operated in Baghdad during the 9th century.

Biography[]

In the 860s, Naaji was working under Mentor Rayhan as one of his informants in Baghdad to investigate the corruption and workings of the city. Wishing to prove himself, Naaji asked for a more dangerous mission and was tasked to track down and assassinate two corrupt Abbasid Caliphate soldiers. Although managing to find proof of their criminal activities, he hesitated to act on his mission.[1]

Just as he was contemplating on how to proceed, Naaji was approached by fellow Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq, who spoke with him about his mission. As Naaji was too nervous to act alone, Basim offered to lend his aid and together the two Hidden Ones managed to eliminate the corrupt guards. Basim then proceeded to give Naaji advice about the type of missions he should perform for the Hidden Ones.[1]

After the mission, Naaji reported back to Rayhan, who agreed with Basim's advice.[1] Sometime later, Naaji met Basim again at the Abbasiyah bureau, where he thanked him for setting him on the right path and gifted him a token as a sign of his appreciation.[2]
