Myrddin's Cave was a cave in Hampshire, England situated atop an abandoned Isu Barracks that served as a vault to house Excalibur, a Sword of Eden once wielded by the 6th century Brittonic king Arthur Pendragon.
During the 870s, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir visited the cave and managed to gain access to the vault within, claiming the Sword of Eden for herself after inserting eleven tablets that she had found across England.[1]
Trivia
- The name of the cave may be a reference to Myrddin Wyllt, a prophet and madman in Welsh legend. He was later introduced in Arthurian legend and came to be associated with the wizard Merlin by Geoffrey of Monmouth.
