Murjana was an Abbasid woman who lived in Baghdad during the 9th century. She was the daughter of the famous merchant Ali Baba and was a friend of Beshi, a member of the Zanj rebels.[1] Unlike her father, she lived for the thrill of battle and preferred resolving conflicts with the sword rather than diplomacy, though she remained close to Ali Baba as part of his bodyguard and regularly protected his caravans.[2]
When her father came into trouble with the Forty Thieves, Beshi recommended that she seek out the Hidden Ones who were trustworthy and able to help her situation. Murjana wrote a letter to the local bureau in Harbiyah, where it was found by Basim Ibn Ishaq. In the letter, Murjana asked the Hidden One to meet her outside the south of the city gate.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Murjana is a character in Assassin's Creed: Mirage, introduced as part of its downloadable expansion The Forty Thieves. She may have been based on and named after Morgiana, a slave girl who later became Ali Baba's daughter-in-law in the original tale's folklore.[3]
