The Morning Star

The Morning Star was a mace used in 5th century BCE Greece. Adorned with spikes, the Morning Star was more than just another blunt mace.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Morning Star was commonly found in the inventories of blacksmiths.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Morning Star, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, shares the model with a number of other weapons in the same game, such as the Mace of the Sphinx and Markos' Tenderizer. These are all recycled from the Bone-Cracker, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins, which itself was apparently based on a mace from Roman Egypt dated to 30 B.C.–A.D. 364 and is now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with accession number "15.2.6a, b".[2]

Its name, however, is anachronistic as proper morning stars were a medieval weapon.
