Michael Parrel (died 1916) was a British sergeant who fought in World War I.
In June 1916, Parrel wrote a letter to his daugther Lizzy, telling her he missed her a lot and that though he couldn't make it home for her birthday, he hoped she enjoyed the present he'd sent. Parrel also told her to obey her mother and study hard, complimenting her on her writing. He also said a fellow soldier enjoyed wriitng poetry and he would get him to write her a poem if she behaved. Sergeant Parrel was killed at the Battle of the Somme the very next month.[1]
Parrel's letter ended up in London, where it was recovered by the British Assassin Lydia Frye.[2]
