Michael Dooley was an Irish farmer and member of the Whiteboys.
In the late 1700s, Brandon Bolster decided to use his farm lands to feed cattle and increase his income, depriving his farmers, such as Dooley, of the means to feed their families. The Whiteboys affixed a threat to the Bolsters' barn door, and while Richard Bolster agreed with them, Brandon stubbornly refused to negotiate with the farmers.[1]
The day of the threat, Richard met with Dooley and other farmers to try and remind them of their goodwill, seeking to avoid confrontation. It was for naught, as a mob appeared on the estate the next day, with Dooley in attendance. The Bolsters and their household armed themselves and faced the angry crowd besieging their house, but were quickly overrun by their numbers.[1]
