Little Victories was a virtual representation of one of Eivor Varinsdottir's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan in 2020 through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.[1]
Description[]
Eivor found a couple, Skegi and Stikla, overlooking a village taken by bandits.
Dialogue[]
Eivor approached Skegi's Beard on the easternmost shore of Lincolnscire, which was overrun by bandits. On the cliff above the village, two Norse bemoaned the village's fate.
- Skegi: Look... look what they have done to it.
- Stikla: We should stop coming here, Skegi. It only saddens you and angers me.
- Skegi: Yes... yes, you are right.
- Stikla: Then let's go. And never come back.
- Skegi: Just a moment longer...
Eivor approached them.
- Eivor: You're looking to set foot in there? I would not advise it.
- Stikla: In my youth, I could. Both of us could. We would not think twice about taking back what is ours.
- Eivor: You lived here?
- Skegi: It was a fishing village once. Built it with our bare hands, all of it. But bandits drove us out the moment they saw how plentiful the waters were. The fish here are not shy, and they are difficult to sate.
- Eivor: You make it hard to resist. I may have to see for myself.
- Skegi: It will not be easy. Why not take my wife with you? Stikla would love to raise Hel against these dogs.
- Eivor: What would it serve? Only a matter of time before more roving bandits catch a whiff of this place.
- Skegi: We know. Such is the case in all of Lincolnscire. But it would be a small victory. A chance to dip our feet for a while.
- Eivor: All right. I'll take her. Always good to rekindle a flame.
Eivor took leave of Skegi while Stikla followed.
- Eivor: On me, Stikla. We will whet your blade with their bones.
- Stikla: It is long overdue.
Eivor and Stikla made their way down to the camp together and began dispatching the bandits, either by stealth or by charging in.
- Stikla: They fight like children!
- Eivor: You are difficult to sate! I like it.
- Stikla: All this blood! The waters will run red!
- Eivor: You fight with great passion, Stikla.
- Stikla: I have longed for this!
They defeated every last bandit in the village.
- Eivor: That is all of them.
- Stikla: Skegi will be thrilled. Let us go to him.
They left the village and returned to Skegi.
- Skegi: You made it look effortless.
Eivor spoke to him as Stikla rejoined his side.
- Eivor: Stikla is a stout fighter. Worthy enough to raid with the best drengir. It may be what she is destined for.
- Skegi: You honor her. And believe me, I have tried. But she is stubborn. Insists on looking after this old and frail hound.
- Eivor: When you die, have her seek me out.
- Skegi: Ha! You jest, but I shall take you up on it. Until then!
Eivor took her leave.
- (If Eivor returned to Skegi later)
- Eivor: Still gazing, eh?
- Skegi: Just a little longer. Have you changed your mind? Will you take Stikla and send those bandits to Hel?
- (returns to previous choices)
If Eivor ultimately opted to go in alone, she descended the cliff and cleared out every last bandit before returning to Skegi and Stikla.
- Eivor: This fishing spot is safe for now. Have a walk, dip your feet if you like, but do not stay long.
- Skegi: We won't. Thank you, stranger. Farewell!
Outcome[]
Eivor killed all bandits in the village and on the beach.
