Khepri was an Egyptian Hidden One during the 1st century BCE,[1] and a Sage of the Isu Vejovis.[2]

Biography[]

To complete her training as a Hidden One, Khepri traveled with fellow Hidden One Nashwa from the city of Memphis to the town of Aswan, which was her first time going so far south. He had her climb atop the pyramid in Elephantine to help locate a cartographer they needed to convince to give them a map of the area. From her high viewpoint, Khepri saw the cartographer trip and the pages he had been holding being scattered by the wind. She collected the pages, jumping across the different buildings in Aswan and handed them to the cartographer, who gave her a map of the Temple of Philae in thanks.[1]

Nashwa landed next to her, congratulating Khepri on her resourcefulness and revealing her assassination target as "The Medicine", a Memphian doctor who using their position to gather allies and kill enemies. Nashwa then declared her initiation into the Hidden Ones complete and fixed a Hidden Blade on her arm. Khepri set for the Temple of Philae, swimming to the island and avoiding the crocodiles.[1]

At Philae, Khepri paused for a moment on the shore to dry out her clothes so as to avoid leaving a trail or making noise before climbing the temple and entering it. She found a group of guards around a locked door, which she deduced would lead to The Medicine. She sketched their locations on the map and figured out a route that allowed her to kill all of them without being noticed. She tried the door but found it barricaded from the inside. From a clue on the back of the map, Khepri figured out her target's name was Habibah and called out, pretending to be one of the guards.[1]

Habibah opened the door, looked at Khepri, and noted that she had not been expecting a woman, a sentiment that Khepri also admitted to before plunging her Hidden Blade into Habibah's heart. While she lay dying, she revealed to Khepri that she was not the first Hidden One Nashwa had sent after her and asked Khepri to look into her golden chest for the trinkets she had kept away from the others in the Order. After Habibah passed away, Khepri opened the chest, revealing half of an Isu dagger, which she took with her. Khepri swam back as the crocodiles entered the temple and consumed the fresh bodies there. Back in Memphis, Nashwa introduced Khepri to Bayek, who tasked her with establishing a home to the Hidden Ones in what would later be where Baghdad was founded. Khepri left, taking the Isu blade with her.[1]
