Kells Abbey was a former monastery in Meath, Ireland which gave its name to the Book of Kells which had been kept at the abbey for several centuries.

In 879, the abbey was raided by a band of Vikings led by Thorstein the Red, who stole the Book of Kells along with it. Alerted of the raid and stolen book, the abbot of Armagh Eogan mac Cartaigh sent a letter to High King Flann Sinna, requesting his aid to help recover and ensure its safekeeping.[1]

Later on, the abbey was raided once again by the jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan. During her time at the abbey, Eivor also discovered a Book of Knowledge behind a barred door. Breaking through the door, Eivor learned a new ability, "Vikingr Salute."[2]
