ACV Jordeygr Shelter 1

Jordeygr Shelter

Jordeygr Shelter was one of the dwarven shelters in Svaladal, Svartálfaheimr. During the Muspel invasion of the realm, dwarven survivors escaped the war and traveled to the shelter set up by the Sons of Ivaldi.

History[]

In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord Havi followed the dwarven symbols and found an entrance to the shelter.[1] Inside, he found the shelter chiefs Brammer and Lom and talked with him about any ideas against the Muspels' warlord Surtr. Brammer stated their people have been taken captive and enslaved by his daughter Eysa. Havi realized he might capture Eysa to trade for the release of his son Baldr as Brammer stated her enslaved dwarves may know where she is. Havi thanked them before leaving to find Eysa.[2]

After a series of events, Havi gained an ally in Eysa against her father as well as attained Surtr's new prize artifact, the Salakar, which can steal the hugr of any life form, from Muspel scientist Calder, whose hugr was taken with the Salakar itself. Realizing the artifact needed a worthy jötunn sacrifice,[3] he headed back to the shelter and asked Brammer and Lom for any suitable candidates. The shelter chiefs revealed their true identities and how they were being chased by Suttungr's right hand, Malvigr. The dwarven brothers concocted a plan to betray Havi by stating of a "powerful" cup at their old home in Gapihus to him. Havi believed them before leaving while the brothers later left to inform Malvigr of Havi's location.[4]

Through his travels, Havi also found a jötunn archer Vaskr outside the shelter as she asked him to help get inside to be with her dwarven lover Svass. While she changed her form into a wolf, he escorted her inside and helped the lovers reunite. However, the shelter was soon attacked by wolves, which forced Havi and Vaskr to fight them. When Vaskr revealed herself, the dwarven fugitives demanded her to leave but Svass vouched for her and gave them an ultimatum of him leaving as well. Conceding, the shelter's inhabitants let Vaskr join their shelter.[5] When he revisited the shelter, Havi found the dwarven fugitives he saved from their Muspels and jötnar captors as they gave him gifts and resources in return for saving their lives.[6]
