Jinbei (died 1582) was a Japanese warrior and the leader of the Winter Raiders during the 16th century.
Biography[]
By 1582, Jinbei was the leader of a group of trained warriors that protected the region Kii, especially the village of Gobo. Unfortunately, Gobo's elder shunned them to further stockpile their resources for his villagers. Outcasts, the warriors became the Winter Raiders, who terrorized the region every winter and killed anyone who dared to fight them. Delegating his orders from Sandanbeki Cave, he led his fellow warriors to take what they deserved from the people of Kii.[1]
After the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke met with Gobo's elder and local woman Rin about the raiders, they agreed to rid Gobo and Kii of these criminals. After determining the location of Jinbei's hideout, they entered Sandanbeki Cave and found Jinbei talking aloud to his men about being wronged by Gobo's inhabitants. Naoe and Yasuke then assassinated Jinbei and recovered a kanabō, Pupil's Promise, from his personal effects.[1]
