The Isthmus of Poseidon, also called the Isthmus of Korinth, is a narrow strip of land, connecting the Peloponnese to the mainland Greece, near the town of Korinth. It is also one of the regions of Korinthia.
The isthmus was home to the Isthmian Games as established by Sisyphos, the founder of Korinth, in honor and memory of Melikertes. An altar dedicated to Melikertes was part of the Games and the cult related to them.
