Claudia Auditore being inducted into the Assassin Order.
The Initiation to the Assassin Order is a ceremonial tradition held within the Assassin Order. It is a rite of passage when an Assassin becomes a full member of the Order, and vows to commit their life to safeguarding the freedom of humanity. Through the centuries, there have been different renditions of the ceremony.
Third Crusade
Although the full details of the initiation into Order during the 12th century are unclear, the ceremony includes the amputation of the ring finger, as a sign of commitment to the Creed. Afterwards, the hidden blade is installed, and the Assassin is prepared to participate in any assassination missions bestowed upon them.
Renaissance

An assassin is born
During the Renaissance, the initiation involved the Head Assassin standing around a lit brazier, while their superiors spoke the words of their Creed, "Laa shay'a waqui'n moutlaq bale kouloun moumkine." After the initiate repeated the words, rather than remove the left hand's ring finger, as it was done in the past, their ring finger was simply branded with the mark of the Assassins with metal tongs heated in the aforementioned fire. The newly appointed Assassin then performed a Leap of Faith, completing the ceremony, and making them a full, official member of the Order, dedicated to the Creed.
