An Immortal

The Immortals was a name given by the historian Herodotos to a group of elite Persian soldiers in service of the Achaemenid Empire, who were also considered to be the Imperial Guard.

Influence[]

During the Peloponnesian War, a set of armor attributed to the group was in the possession of the Cult of Kosmos, namely the members of the Worshippers of the Bloodline branch. Following the members' demise at the hands of the Spartan misthios Kassandra, she claimed said set.[1]

Around the same time, a group of the Immortals and a Spartan army detachment serving under the Order of the Ancients set up an ambush for Darius in Makedonia. However, a group of mercenaries who went to Amphipolis because they wanted to be the Adrestia's crew helped Darius and Natakas wipe out the Immortals and the Spartan army.[2]

Twin-soldiers serving under Amorges as Magi of the Order of Dominion branch of the Order of the Ancients were called The Immortals due to their affiliation with Persia as well as seeming to never die.[3]

In the 1st century BCE Egypt, a blade deemed to have belonged to the group ended up in the hands of the Medjay Bayek of Siwa.[4]

In 2019, the Immortals featured in Abstergo Industries' game Rebellion as part of the Helix Rift Event titled The Hunter's Hounds, although they wore armor that was more typical of the Order Elite soldier class.[2]
