Idiot Hunt was a virtual representation of one of Kassandra's genetic memories, relived by Layla Hassan through the Portable Animus HR-8.5.
Description[]
Kassandra met a woman in Skandeia Harbor who requested her to find her husband.
Dialogue[]
While in the Skandeia Harbor, Kassandra came across a woman calling for her aid.
- Civilian: Oh, a real adventurer! Please, help!
Please, misthios! It's my idiot husband!
Kassandra approached her.
- Civilian: Misthios! My husband!
- Kassandra: What's wrong with him?
- Civilian: He's an idiot.
- Kassandra: That's one problem I can't solve.
- Civilian: He's a fisherman who thought he could make better drachmae hunting lynx—spent everything we had on a bow! I haven't seen him in three days. Please, misthios, will you find my idiot?
- Kassandra: Not only will I find your idiot, I'll bring him home.
- Civilian: Thank you! He was last seen west of Skandeia Harbor. Please hurry.
(If players asked "How good a huntsman is he?")
- Kassandra: So he's an idiot—but is he a good huntsman?
- Civilian: He struggled with fish, misthios. Tiny, toothless fish. And now the fool is hunting lynx.
(If players asked "Where did he go?")
- Kassandra: You said your husband headed—
- Civilian: The biggest lynx live in caves near the ruins. Knowing my idiot, that's where he'd go.
(If players asked "What reward are you offering?")
- Kassandra: How much is your husband worth to you?
- Civilian: You can keep his bow. It was the talk of the agora before he bought it.
Then I'll make sure he never uses it again.
(If players chose "I'll find him.")
- Kassandra: He's been gone a while. I should get going.
- Civilian: You'll find him. I know it.
- Kassandra: How?
- Civilian: Because you're not an idiot.
Kassandra headed northwest to a cave, which was surrounded by a pack of lynx.
- Kassandra: Lynx don't prowl for nothing... Must be something in that cave.
Entering the cave, she heard someone.
- Civilian: That... is a lot of blood!
Help! I can hear you!
Please, I—there's so much blood, help!
Kassandra found the hunter on the ground, injured.
(If Kassandra had not yet met the wife, she instead questioned the civilian about how he got there.)
- Civilian: I knew you weren't a lynx. Heard you're footsteps. Only two. Lynx have four.
- Kassandra: You're seriously wounded.
- Civilian: These lynx—uh, they're a bit tougher than the sea bass I usually catch. Could you help a fellow hunter home to his wife?
(Accept – "I'll get you home.")
- Kassandra: I'll see what I can do.
- Civilian: Thank the gods! She's in Skandeia Harbor.
(If players asked "What's your wife like?")
- Kassandra: Tell me about your wife.
- Civilian: She's the real lynx!
The hunter laughed at his own joke.
- Civilian: Please don't tell her I said that.
(If players asked "What reward are you offering?")
- Kassandra: If I get you home safe, what's my reward?
- Civilian: My bow. It's my pride and joy—sold almost everything I owned to buy it.
(If players asked "How can you call yourself a hunter?")
- Kassandra: You said you usually catch sea bass—what made you think you could take on a lynx?
- Civilian: Never seen a Kytherian sea bass, have you? Even a lynx wouldn't touch 'em!
If you fancy yourself a hunter, though... there's a monstrous beast in the south. Was gonna go after it myself once I broke in my bow. - Kassandra: Monstrous beast, huh? I'll have to see it for myself.
(Leave – "Let's get you home.")
- Kassandra: You've lost a lot of blood. If you're going to make it home, we'll need to move now.
She carried him on her back out of the cave.
- Civilian: Ow, ow, ow!
She began making her way back to Skandeia Harbor.
- Civilian: How much blood can a man lose? I'm getting tired.
Fortunately, Kassandra made it back to his wife with him still in one piece.
- (If players met the husband first)
- Kassandra: And you must be his wife.
- Civilian: The wife of an idiot, I'm afraid.
Regardless of who Kassandra spoke to first, she successfully reunited the husband and wife.
- Civilian 1: Missed your idiot?
- Civilian 2: My love, you're alive!
- Civilian 2: So. Are we having lynx for dinner?
- Civilian 1: Enough about the lynx.
The couple embraced and shared a moment.
- Kassandra: I'm happy to see you reunited.
The two began to kiss each other passionately and noisily.
- Kassandra: Wonderful. I'll leave you to, ah—
Chaire.
Kassandra walked away with her reward.
If the man died.
- Woman: What happened?!
- Kassandra: I found him in a cave, surrounded by lynx. He'd killed a few, but was too far gone to bring home.
- Woman: So my husband was alive when you found him?
- Kassandra: He was badly wounded -
- Woman: But breathing? You - you could have helped him!
- Kassandra: I did all I could -
True to her word, two mercenaries begun to hunt Kassandra.
Outcome[]
Kassandra helped the woman to find and rescue her husband.
Trivia[]
- If the quest is started by going to the cave first, the player can talk to the husband and ask him questions. During this questioning, he will mention a "beast to the south" that can only be the Krokottas Hyena. The protagonist will mention they should see this for themselves, even if the beast has already been encountered and slain.
- If the cave is approached, but not explored and thus missing meeting the husband, the animals will kill him while you go and talk to the wife.
