Hemthorpe was the main settlement of Clan Hemmingsons in Snotinghamscire.
History[]
In 876, Hemming Jarl was bedridden after dying from an illness as his son, Vili Hemmingson, and close family friend, Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan came upon hearing the news. Inside the settlement's longhouse, Hemming was near death as his advisor and loyal advisor, Trygve, stood by while Vili and Eivor came soon afterwards. Inside, Vili sat by Hemming, who was happy to see Eivor and Vili together again. In his last remarks, Hemming told Vili how proud he was of who he is and what he will be, before taking his last breath.[1]
As preparations for Hemming's funeral came, Eivor came to help Trygve as the villagers of Hemthorpe became hazardous. Doing her best with helping the constiuents of Hemthorpe, she saw that Trygve still sadden by Hemming's death. Eivor assured him that his pain will subside.[2] Concerned about Snotinghamscire's fate of a new jarl, Eivor consulted with the settlement's seer. The seer proclaimed that they need to sacrifice sheep at the bottom of The Sleeping Jotun before the Hemming's funeral. She agreed and followed the seer's lead out of her home.[3]
After dealing with the vision she received at the Sleeping Jotun,[3] and personal issues between Vili and Trygve[4], Eivor concluded her tasks with being in attendance at Hemming's funeral. Afterwards, at Hemthorpe's longhouse, she finally decided on who would be jarl and achieved an allyship with the shire.[5]
Within the settlement, Eivor took part in a children's version of an Althing and provided her vote and wisdom to their discussions.[6] From her travels within the settlement, Eivor found and broke through a wooden covering of a well, climbed down, and found a chest. She opened it and retrieved a tungsten ingot.[7]
