Altar to Hekate in the Shrine of Whispers

Hekate was an Isu,[1] revered as a goddess in ancient Greek religion and mythology, associated with magic, ghosts, and necromancy. She was often depicted as three-formed.

She resided in the realm of Elysium which her friend Persephone ruled over.[1]

Legacy and influence

During the 5th century BCE, a woman worshipped Hekate on the Greek island of Seriphos vocally enough for her to be known by the goddess.[2]

During the 1st century BCE, a statue of Hekate was located in the Shrine of Whispers, the base of the priestess Melitta's operations.[3]

Trivia

  • In Origins, she is given the epithet 'The Hidden One', which is also what the names of the Egyptian deities Amun and Amunet translate as.
