Sometime before 1888, a woman born with the name Mary Williams worked in the Gracechurch Street Brothel. One of her clients, a wealthy and well-connected solicitor Thomas Owers, was smitten with her, and they married, Mary taking on the name Olwyn Owers, or 'Lady O'.
By 1888, Lady Owers had gained the ownership of the Gracechurch Street brothel, and it was the most succesful of her establishments. She employed thugs to keep her 'beauties' compliant and willing to spy on their wealthy clients.
