Von Steuben was with the army at Valley Forge when they encamped there for the winter in 1778. There, he drilled the troops in basic military tactics and taught them basic camp layout and sanitation, stopping the spread of disease at the encampment.
- Von Steuben was meant to make an appearance in the video game: concept art of him is displayed in The Art of Assassin's Creed III.
