This article is about the bear den in Makedonia. For other uses, see Bear Den.
The Bear Den was a cave favored by bears within Unexplored Mount Pangeon in Makedonia, Greece during the Peloponnesian War.
Though it was the home of a pack of bears, a member of the Order of Hunters branch of the Persian Order of the Ancients, Phratagounè the Keeper, made her home there as well, taming the beasts and teaching them to hunt the Tainted Ones. In 429 BCE, however, the Spartan misthios Kassandra sought out Phratagounè and slew her and her pets.[1]
