Feeding the Masses was a visual representation of Ratonhnhaké:ton's genetic memories from an Apple of Eden-induced reality, relived by Desmond Miles in 2012 through the Animus.

Having rescued Thomas Jefferson, Ratonhnhaké:ton met with him to learn how to gain New York City's support in the fight against King Washington.

Feeding the Masses 1

Ratonhnhaké:ton meeting with Jefferson

Ratonhnhaké:ton found Jefferson in an alley.

  • Jefferson: Well, sir, I have never seen anything like what you did back there. A resourceful man like yourself could easily help the people.
  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: My goal is to take Washington down. The rest is none of my concern.
  • Jefferson: We'll never defeat Washington without the people of New York behind us.
  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: And what do they want?
  • Jefferson: They are starving. We will win their support if we feed them; however, all the food is controlled by John Fitzwilliams. He is the most corrupt official in a city filled with corruption.
  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: Bring him to me and I will track him to his stores of food.

Jefferson led Ratonhnhaké:ton to a dock-side marketplace to find Fitzwilliams. While blending in, Jefferson casually pointed out Fitzwilliams.

  • Jefferson: There's Fitzwilliams. You won't find a worse blood-sucker this side of the Atlantic. He sells the food at inflated prices and skims the extra for himself.
  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: I do not care about him. We only care about getting people something to eat. Eventually, he'll lead me to his hoard.

Ratonhnhaké:ton followed Fitzwilliams, making sure not to be detected by him. As he followed, Fitzwilliams spoke with a man near the pier.

Feeding the Masses 3

Ratonhnhaké:ton tailing Fitzwilliams

  • Man: I've no money, sir, but my family's desperate for food.
  • Fitzwilliams: Shove off! If you were a real man, you'd go rob somebody to pay me!

Ratonhnhaké:ton continued to tail Fitzwilliams, before a nearby civilian shoved him. The man ran from Fitzwilliams until he was knocked over by a passing Bluecoat. Having caught up to the man, Fitzwilliams shot him and continued on his way, until he met a woman standing near the brewery.

  • Fitzwilliams: Hey, pretty missy. I'll give you some food, if you're real nice to me, if you know what I'm sayin'?
  • Woman: All your carrots are rotten. Especially your little one.

Fitzwilliams left dismayed and arrived at his storehouse. Ratonhnhaké:ton entered the courtyard and eavesdropped on a couple guards

  • Bluecoat 1: Fitzwilliams cornered the market on foodstuffs, by god.
  • Bluecoat 2: How does he get away with it? Right under Washington's nose!
  • Bluecoat 1: Oh, don't you worry. The king gets a cut of every carrot and turnip all right.
  • Bluecoat 2: You think Washington's a part of this?
  • Bluecoat 1: What are you? An innocent babe?

Ratonhnhaké:ton killed Fitzwilliams and attempted to steal the cart, startling a man hiding underneath it.

Feeding the Masses 5

Ratonhnhaké:ton speaking with Warren

  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: You! ... Yes, you.
  • Warren: I wasn't doin' nothin'!
  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: Thomas Jefferson needs someone to get this cart of food to hungry people.
  • Warren: To sell it?
  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: Give it.
  • Warren: Free food for hungry folks? I'm your man, friend!
  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: Get some friends. We'll take as many cartloads as we can.

Ratonhnhaké:ton escorted Warren and the food-cart to the docks. Along the way, they were met by Bluecoats intending to stop them. Warren proceeded to warn Ratonhnhaké:ton of the impending danger.

  • Warren: Right there!
    Up there!
I'm in trouble over here! Come back!

The pair eventually reached a roadblock consisting of powder kegs.

  • Warren: Can't go through there! Blow up those kegs!

After clearing the way of both powder kegs and Bluecoats, they successfully made it to the docks.

Feeding the Masses 7

Warren and Ratonhnhaké:ton giving out the food

  • Warren: Wasn't sure I was gonna make it out alive, but, god damn! This is the most fun I've had all week!
Thomas Jefferson, people! This here food is thanks to Mister Thomas Jefferson!

Warren grabbed some fruit and tossed it to an approaching man. As the man caught it, he held the fruit up in the air and praised Jefferson.

  • Man: Thomas Jefferson!

Ratonhnhaké:ton looked at the cheering crowd.

  • Ratonhnhaké:ton: Just a few carrots and he has won their loyalty.

Ratonhnhaké:ton aided in providing free food to the starving civilians, gaining their trust for Jefferson.
