Edan was a Scottish mercenary who worked for Sören.

Biography[]

Rescuing Fillan[]

By 1296, Edan was a part of Sören's group of mercenaries and newfound family. Joining a task given by the Scottish Brotherhood of Assassins, he followed Sören to retrieve their target from Berwick. Meeting Fillan,[1] he kept the boy guarded but restless to fight.[2] Escorting Fillan to their employers, Edan followed his group towards Cranshaws. While there, they were ambushed by the English and the Lann Fala, a group of Templar hunters. However, he saw that Fillan charged the leader Cornavii for killing his caretaker Alastair Aitken. However, the boy froze[3] and the mercenaries reacted to save him.[4]

Although wanting to fight, Edan followed the group's lead and retreated while his fellow mercenary Craig sacrificed himself to buy them time.[4] Uneased, over Craig's death,[5] Edan followed Sören and traveled to Dalkeith to meet their contact Deorsa, an Assassin spy.[6] While staying in Dalkeith, Edan enjoyed his time within a promisicious establishment of the village, especially during the festival of Bealltainn.[7][8]

However, Edan outgrew his welcome after becoming involved with both the village's baker's and blacksmith's wives and followed his group towards Leith. There, he, Fergus, and Sören went to find a captain to take them all to Scone.[9] After crossing the Forth and then traveling for two weeks to Scone,[10] the mercenaries stood by while Fillan met with the Scottish council at the abbey.[11][12] However, their stay was cut short once the Lann Fala found them and set fire to the forest.[13]

Edan and his group followed Sören to distract any English soldiers or Lann Fala members away from Fillan and Kyle, his fellow mercenary. However, they came to aid both Kyle and a wounded Fillan, who was found and held by his throat by Cornavii. Fortunately, the Lann Fala retreated while the mercenaries took an unconscious Fillan away.[13] While Moira and Kyle tended to Fillan, the group traveled and arrived at Sören's home, Beinn Eallair,[14] where Sören would train Fillan as an Assassin[15] for some months.[16]

Fighting for Scotland[]

Edan later joined Sören, who asked his group to join Scottish Assassin William Wallace's cause in the war against the English.[17] After two weeks, they arrived in Lanark and Edan left to aid Wallace while Fillan left to kill his target, Commander Bradley Dacre.[18] Soon, he and his allies soon found Fillan and his twin Ailéas alive and well.[19] For two weeks, they all fought against the English but Edan suffers an injury from an arrow in his leg. Fortunately, they all rode to Dunstaffnage to meet with Fergus' former clan leader and Kyle's father Alexander Macdougall.[20]

With the English marching to Dunstaffnage, Edan stayed to recover, with Fergus and Kyle fighting to help Clan Macdougall while Moira, the twins, Deorsa, and Sören left to find and guard the Stone of Destiny at Iona.[21] Fortunately, Clan Macdougall held their own against the English and kept the fort. After their victory, the clan sailed to Iona to meet Sören and the rest of their allies.[22]

Skills and equipment[]

At the time of the First War of Scottish Independence, he wore a belt with a dagger on one side and a sword on the other.[1]
